Leveling 1–60

Priest

What changed in Forever

Leveling 1–60

The initial stage combines a wand with Spirit Tap: attacks without mana expenditure leave time for regeneration. Subsequent Shadow talents support periodic damage against durable targets. The main calculator unlocks Shadowform at 40 through a talent reset; the alternative without a reset is described below.

1–19: wand damage and mana recovery

Talents at level 10

Lesser Magic Wand is available from level 5 and Greater Magic Wand from 13. Both are crafted by an enchanter; neither requires a profession to equip. Wand Specialization receives points at 10–11, followed by completion of Spirit Tap at 12–16. The opening sequence combines a direct spell with Shadow Word: Pain, followed by wand attacks. Since wand damage costs no mana, normal regeneration resumes after five seconds without expenditure.

Improved Shadow Word: Pain at 17–18 adds damage ticks. Its benefit requires the target to survive long enough. In a short encounter with a strong wand, additional casts increase the mana cost per kill. Power Word: Fortitude and Inner Fire provide persistent enhancements. Power Word: Shield applied before combat protects casts from pushback.

20–39: Shadow and healing through damage

Talents at level 20

At 20, every race can train Devouring Plague and Fear Ward. Mind Flay is added at 22, Vampiric Embrace at 27 and Silence at 32. Vampiric Embrace heals the party through Shadow damage and enables Spirit Tap when the marked enemy dies, even if an ally lands the final blow. A complete Mind Flay channel is required to obtain its stronger final ticks.

Devouring Contagion at 33–34 halves the plague’s cost. When an infected target dies, the remaining effect spreads to two enemies within 10 yards. Three points enter Darkness at 37–39. A trainer reset at 40 requires a gold reserve: both Wand Specialization points move into Shadow, Darkness reaches 5/5 and the 31st point unlocks Shadowform. This provides the form two levels earlier than retaining the early wand talents.

40–60: form and mana efficiency

Talents at level 40

Shadowform grants 10% more Shadow damage, halves Shadow spell costs and reduces incoming physical damage by 15%. Mind Blast and Mind Flay can therefore be used more often, while the wand remains a finisher without mana expenditure. Twin Disciplines reaches 5/5 at 41–45 and Mental Strength reaches 5/5 at 46–50. Subsequent points develop Meditation at 51–53, Inner Focus at 54 and Mental Agility at 55–57. The final three points in Twilight Focus protect casts from pushback.

Dungeon healing requires leaving Shadowform and equipping healing power, Intellect and Spirit. Renew compensates for steady damage. Heal and Greater Heal suit predictable health loss, while Flash Heal provides urgent recovery. Dispel Magic and Cure Disease remove the corresponding effects. At 60, the calculator offers separate Discipline and Holy allocations.

Level 40: early access to the form and reset cost

Talents at level 40

The main calculator includes a reset: both early Wand Specialization points move into Shadow, unlocking Shadowform at 40. This provides two additional levels with reduced Shadow spell costs. The reset expense is separate from training new ranks.

The alternative that conserves gold omits the reset. Darkness is completed at 40–41 and Shadowform is obtained at 42, followed by Discipline. The two early wand points remain, so the final allocation differs from the main 17/3/31 preset.

Dungeons

The leveling route includes one visit to each dungeon located along the route. Quest experience is the primary objective; equipment drops are a secondary benefit. Repeat visits are reserved for pre-raid equipment collection at level 60. Experience totals exclude kills and bonuses. Full-chain totals include prerequisite and follow-up quests, which may require an additional visit. The percentage of a level uses the experience requirement at the listed starting level.

XP and sources

Both totals use quests available at the start of the recommended level range. The first includes direct quests without extra chains. The second includes the entire known list, including preparation and follow-ups; it is a reference total, not a promise of XP from one run. If there are no chains, the totals match. Quests spanning multiple wings award XP once.

Kills and bonuses are excluded. Classic rewards are reference values; unknown XP is excluded from totals. Quest-name links lead to Wowhead or ForeverChanges. Pick up yourself means we do not rely on sharing, including when sharing is unconfirmed. Checked 31.10.2026.
